The firm is able to participate in complex international agreements involving 2 or more jurisdictions.

Considering that the country is an important market for International Trade and has become an attractive and accessible destination to foreign companies, the Firm offers extensive services in business set up and logistics, including legal and physical installation, the acquisition of licensing rights and the procurement of tax benefits. This is complemented by specialized advice on International Contracts for the International Sale of Goods, jurisdictional clauses and INCOTERMS.

• Foreign Investment and Free Trade

Costa Rica is an active and dynamic marketplace for foreign investment in areas such as tourism, services, industries and conservation, as well as in other business. The country has a great level of interest in promoting direct investments, and as a result there are a number of incentives and facilities put in place for serious investors, particularly through its Free Zone regime. Costa Rica also has signed a number of free trade agreements with various countries, including the United States of America (CAFTA), Mexico, Panama, Canada and Chile, the European Union and China. The Firm has ample capabilities and knowledge of all of these regimes, and is able to offer high level of advice to our clients in order to maximize the advantages of each and all of these trade agreements and existing investment regimes.

We offer a diligent and experienced counsel with special emphasis in Public Procurement and Public Works Concessions, both for national and international firms, providing advice on Public Procurement Procedures, Permit Applications, Municipal Law, General Public Law and Administrative Proceedings.

This includes advice on immigration issues for Expatriates, the establishment of company policies about Benefits and Compensations, Layoffs and Outsourcing. We also provide HR outside counseling.

We provide guidance on Environmental Impact Assessment regulations for industry, energy and real estate developments. We provide information about Carbon Exchange contracts and we counsel on Corporate Social Responsibility.

The Firm has extensive experience on Real Estate purchase and development. We deal with feasibility issues, pre-planning, planning and execution. We also handle the drafting of complex construction contracts and project finance agreements. Our practice ranges from housing projects to major tourism and infrastructure developments.

Our Tax advice allows businesses and individuals to plan accurately and effectively tax obligations while maximizing tax benefits. We also counsel on the facilitation of agreements with the Tax Administration and other related institutions. • Public and Private International Law

Attorneys with our Firm have had extensive practice in matters related to International Law, by acting as counselors and advocates before the International Court of Justice and the Inter-American Court of Human Rights. The Firm is able to provide advice to Governments, International Institutions and Individuals on all issues pertaining to Public or Private International Law.
